Meet Mrs. O'Leary

Hello! I am so excited to be a Falcon. Being principal of Harbor Ridge Middle School is a dream job for me, and I look forward to continuing the strong traditions here while building a school environment where students are supported in their academic, social, and emotional growth.

I was born and raised in Gig Harbor. Fun fact: I actually attended HRMS for middle school and am a proud Peninsula High School graduate. Both my husband and I graduated from WSU (Go Cougs). I started my career teaching English and Leadership at PHS, and later served as assistant principal there for six years.

I have two kids of my own. Brynn will be a 6th grader at HRMS this fall, and Brady will be in 2nd grade at Purdy Elementary. I enjoy traveling, football, skiing, and, when I need to turn off my brain, watching reality TV.

I look forward to getting to know our amazing students and their families. If you see me around, please stop and say hello!

Meet Mr. Hering

Hello Falcon Family! It is great to be back at middle school. It is such a wonderful time for growth and exploration that helps springboard our students towards a successful future. I can’t wait to join you all in everyone’s journeys and get to know each and every one of you.

This will be my 27th year in education that started in Cheney, WA in the 1900s. We moved here about 15 years ago when my wife took a professor position at Olympic College. All three of our children grew up through PSD. Our oldest is a police officer in Moscow, ID, our second child is doing her student teaching this coming year, and our youngest is a junior in high school.

I can’t wait to team with our incredible students, supportive families, and amazing staff here at Harbor Ridge. It truly is a special place and I can’t wait to meet you all. It’s going to be a great year and I’m glad we get to do all of this together!
