Meet Mrs. O'Leary

Hello, Falcons!

I am excited to begin my second year as principal of Harbor Ridge Middle School. My first year only confirmed what I already knew. HRMS is a truly special place, filled with incredible students, dedicated staff, and a supportive community. I am grateful to continue building on the strong traditions that make Harbor Ridge such an amazing school.

As we begin a new school year, there is already so much positive energy and excitement across campus. I am especially looking forward to welcoming Mr. Syd, our new assistant principal. He is going to be a fantastic addition to our team, and I know our students, staff, and families will enjoy getting to know him.

I was born and raised in Gig Harbor and have a special connection to Harbor Ridge because I attended middle school here. I am also a proud Peninsula High School graduate. Both my husband and I graduated from WSU, so you'll often hear us cheering, "Go Cougs!" Before becoming principal at Harbor Ridge, I taught English and Leadership at Peninsula High School and later served as assistant principal there for six years.

My husband and I have two children. Brynn is a 7th grader at Harbor Ridge, and Brady is a 3rd grader at Purdy Elementary. Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, football, skiing, and unwinding with a good reality TV show.

I am looking forward to another incredible year of learning, growth, and connection. Thank you for being part of the Harbor Ridge community. If you see me around, please stop and say hello.

Meet Mr. Syd

Hello Team Falcon,

I am beyond excited to be part of the HRMS family. I have lived in the Gig Harbor community for the last five years so having the honor to work here and serve the students of this community is a true blessing. I look forward to getting to know everyone and to continue to build on the amazing culture we have here at HRMS. My goal is to lift up every student so that they can reach their highest potential.

I was born and raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina as a military dependent. Upon graduating from High School, I joined the military. I had the opportunity to travel the world over my 21 year military career. With that being said, education has always been important to me. I have taught in the Bethel and Puyallup School Districts. I spent my last five years in the Auburn School District as an Assistant Principal at the Middle School Level.

I have four kids: Spenser 36, Mikel 30, Jesse 28, and Charley 11 who will be attending Goodman Middle School this year. I enjoy camping, coaching basketball, and traveling.

We're in the final stretch of preparing for the new school year, and our team is still finalizing staff hiring and building student schedules. Our goal is to have schedules available to students by August 19th. Thank you for your patience as we work to get every detail right before the first day.
